Mindfulness and Meditation seem to be everywhere nowadays, available in every form from 2 minute apps to ten day silent retreats. But what is mindfulness? What are the real benefits of meditation? How can spending time quietly looking at what’s going on inside our own mind help us in the real world? In this 90 minute workshop, we will take a tour through the fundamentals of meditation, it’s Buddhist roots as well as what science has to say about the benefits of mindfulness. We will try out several different kinds of meditation from different schools, each with their own objectives. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, and you’ll get real practical hands-on experience that you can take back into your everyday life. We will even provide refreshments, as that gives us a chance to practice eating mindfully! Whether you’re a meditation newbie, you’ve been using a meditation app, or you’ve read a blog post or a book and want to try it for real, this workshop is for you.
