Consultations
NEW CLIENTS booking a Sports Massage and/or Injury treatment at Miles and Green are required to book a consultation. This session will consist of a 15-20 minute consultation and 40-45 minutes of treatment. Your therapist will ask about your medical and injury history, outcome goals, sports or hobbies, occupation, and lifestyle. Your therapist may assess your posture, joints, or injury. We pride ourselves on providing effective Massage treatments that are always tailored around your needs. The consultation gives us both a chance to ask or answer any questions that may arise and to decide on the best way to tailor your massage treatments. Follow up treatments may then last 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes depending on your requirements and our recommendations.
SPORTS MASSAGE
You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from Sports Massage. Sports massage works deep in the muscles, realigning the muscle fibres and connective tissue. Making it very beneficial for people with chronic pain or restricted range of movement. Problems arise from hobbies and occupations too. During our detailed initial consultation we will learn about you, your specific problems, your sports, training habits, your goals. We will use this information to deliver a first class massage that is tailored to you. Techniques will include trigger point therapy, muscle stretching and deep tissue work.
Sports massage is also a great choice for those who prefer a deeper massage.

DRY NEEDLING/MEDICAL ACCUPUNTURE
Dry needling is a therapy technique that introduces a fine, solid needle into the skin and deeper into the muscles, fascia, tendons and joints to work on trigger points and muscular tension. The therapeutic effect of dry needling relies on the mechanical disruption or direct stimulation of Trigger points. Introducing a needle into the muscle will elicit a ‘local twitch response. This response is an involuntary contraction of the muscle that in turn allows the muscle to relax. In addition, by creating microtrauma sites in the muscles, dry needling stimulates the body’s natural healing processes.

ULTRASOUND THERAPY
Therapeutic Ultrasound is probably the most commonly used electrotherapy equipment, but what does it do? Ultrasound is a form of mechanical energy, it is not electrical energy, so strictly speaking, it isn’t electrotherapy. Ultrasound works in a manual way. The mechanical vibration produces sound energy and this produces high frequency sound waves. These sound waves agitate and ‘excite’ cells. The effect of this on cells is to make the cells work harder and more efficiently to stimulate and enhance healing, increasing the activity levels within them and promoting healing.

KINESIOLOGY TAPING
Kinesiology tape can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions, helping you to prevent injury and to return to sport quicker. Kinesiology tape is applied over the muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is best applied to dry skin, because of this, massage oil will not be applied before application of tape.
