How do you choose a massage therapist? My approach to treatment has always been holistic, even when working with injured clients.  Holistic means looking at the whole body rather than just the area that is causing you discomfort.  That doesn’t mean you will need a full body treatment if you have a shoulder issue for example but it is important to ascertain what is the cause.  Other factors also come into play; jobs, hobbies, stress levels etc and in my experience these can and do have an impact on tensions and imbalances in the body.  This is why the consultation is such an important part of the process, it gives us both the opportunity to discuss possible irritants, sometimes a lightbulb moment happens with a quick discussion about where your computer screen is or the fact you have been under tremendous stress.

Feedback is a great way to ensure that I am giving the correct treatment for what you need.  I will ask how the previous treatment was, so I can build a picture as to what is working well and what isn’t.  Making adjustments to a treatment plan is inevitable when improvements start happening and this is a good thing! I have never believed in continual treating if you there is no improvement.  Everybody responds differently to massage therapy so it is not a one size fits all but if you or I are not seeing any improvements after 4 treatments I will discuss this with you and recommend other health care professionals who I feel will be better able to assist.

I have worked in various settings and this broad experience has given me the tools that I use today.  I have worked in health farms, health clinics, a beauty salon and a sports club.  All of these brought their own challenges and a completely different set of clients and needs. I am confident in dealing with clients from all settings and enjoy an injury challenge!

I am a fully qualified, insured member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) gaining my Fellow membership in 2019 for service to the industry.  In the same year I was appointed as FHT Ambassador, my commitment is to visit colleges and universities in Wiltshire to promote our fantastic industry and to speak to students about my experience and their future in the health sector.
